Ukraine: Blinken meets with Ukrainian President Zelenskiy ahead of Biden-Putin call – Times of India

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy Monday before President Joe Biden’s call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Poutine, during which he is expected to warn Russia of the serious economic consequences if Russia goes ahead with an invasion of Ukraine.
State Department spokesperson Ned Prize told reporters that the United States remains committed to NATO’s open door policy and that the alliance should remain ready for aspirants when they are.
Ukraine, a former Soviet republic, now aspires to join the European Union and NATO.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy agreed to continue “joint and concerted action” with the United States.
